liminal [ lĭm′ə-nəl ] adj. Relating to a threshold.
Liminal: In neurology, at the threshold of perception to a sensory stimulus. In other words, just barely perceptible to the senses. “Liminal” comes from the Latin noun “limen” meaning “threshold.” It makes sense, then, that “liminal” applies to the idea of a sensory threshold.
In anthropology, liminality is the quality of ambiguity or disorientation that occurs in the middle stage of a rite of passage, when participants no longer hold their pre-ritual status but have not yet begun the transition to the status they will hold when the rite is complete.
For me, the liminal is the realm of pure possibility. Liminal is a state of uncertainty. Liminal individuals often feel “neither here nor there; they are betwixt and between the positions assigned and arrayed by law, custom, convention, and ceremony”.
This is a space for liminal beings to explore. This is a ritual for liminal times where we will all be encouraged to be in our leadership. This workshop is done in Radical Aliveness style of facilitation.
